Summary: | Based on a play by Ion Luca Caragiale. The main character Lefter Popescu (played by Grigore Vasiliu-Birlic, one of the classic Romanian comedians) is a poorly paid petty clerk. He decides to try his luck on the lottery. He wins, but then discovers that he has lost the tickets. Lefter tries to get his winning tickets back, getting into conflict with everybody around, including his wife and friends. But when he finally finds them, he discovers that the numbers were the wrong way round. As his dreams of an easy life crumble, he turns into a different person, violent and ridiculous at the same time. |
