Description
Summary:This black and white, artsy omnibus consists of three loosely interconnected episodes which take place in the atmospheric dark streets of the Croatian coastal town of Split during New Year’s Eve. Each of the stories is narrated as a linear episode, while some of the characters meander throughout the movie and resurrect from their deaths as we step back in time for the ensuing tale. Away from the festive atmosphere of the big concert held on the main city square, the first story follows war-time widow Marija who is having an affair with her late husband’s war buddy Nike. Nike is also a small time drug dealer who does not really care for Marija and her small son, who eventually kills him. In the second episode, young drug addict Maja decides to have sex with a depressed American sailor in order to get a packet of heroin. The final story follows a naïve young teenage couple who agree to lose their virginity with each other and spend the final hours of the year looking for a suitable location for their venture. When midnight finally arrives, the New Year brings forth not only fireworks, but lunacy and violent death as well.
