Summary:1927 1918-1939 "The Injunction Means Strike Breaking" [T0137.jpg], 1927, Trade Union Defence Committee Trade Disputes and the Trade Union Act 1927. Leaflet opposing the Act published by the National Trade Union Defence Committee (formed by the TUC and Labour Party). The Act banned civil service trade unions from belonging to the TUC. Union members also had to contract-in to pay the political levy; general strikes and other sympathetic action were forbidden, and there were restrictions on picketing. The Act remained in force until 1946.
