Summary:1969 1961-70 "'Representing the union' television programme, 1969" [BW0111], 1969, Trades Union Congress In 1969, with the cooperation of the TUC, the BBC produced 'Representing the Union', a series of television programmes aimed at the trade union audience, which focussed on productivity bargaining. The TUC encouraged workplace viewing groups. This photo shows Alban Davies, a TGWU shop steward at Alcan Industries' plant in Newport, South Wales, discussing pay and productivity proposals with union members. A BBC team filmed the group for the third programme in the series - 'Communicating with members'. Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v2.0.
