Summary: | "In the context of the continuous financial and economic crisis that started in 2008, the quality of work is not among the first priorities on the European agenda, even if it is a core element of the European social model. However, the question of creating new and better jobs remains an important priority for the European Union. This book is based on the rich debates in the framework of the International conference “Addressing Quality of Work in Europe”, held in Sofia in October 2012, co-organised by WALQING project. Authors from several European countries with their contributions address not only the general discussion about quality of work, but also many individual aspects of the quality of work concept, such as the working conditions, the health and safety challenges, the voice of employees and the role of representation, etc. The first part of the book focuses on the research and analyses in different countries, sectors, or companies. The second part investigates the ways of improving quality of work. The third part focuses on the societal consequences and the vulnerable groups." |
