Summary:EH40/2001 contains an updated list of Occupational Exposure Standards (OELs) and Maximum Exposure Limits (MELs). Employers have a duty under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 1999 (COSHH) to control workplace exposure to hazardous substances, and HSC sets MELs and OELs to help them do this. This edition includes a new table, for information only, containing the OELs derived from the European Commission's first list of Indicative Occupational Exposure Limit Values (IOELVs) as set out in Directive 2000/39/00. It has a shortened format, with EH40/2000 continuing to provide much of the supporting guidance.
