This loose-leaf binder consists of 3 main elements: a booklet which provides a step by step process for identifying the right controls to reduce exposure for many hazardous substances; control guidance sheets and two leaflets which introduce key regulations. This publication uses a simple checklist approach to help firms (particularly small firms) cut through the complexity of assessing risks associated with working with chemicals and identify action to protect workers. It contains illustrated guidance sheets for suitable controls for common tasks eg mixing and weighing. It does not cover non-routine operations, process fumes or dusts, biological agents and substances needing special control measures (eg where the health risk is cancer or asthma).
