Depending on the relations production, the welfare states that have started to come into existence after the Industrial Revolution have made an effort to recognize and provide economic and social rights to their citizens as well as fundamentals. So, businesses firstly focused on providing physical, economical and social protection to workers. Political environment emerged in the European Union (EU) countries after the World War II, where social peace, consensus and dialogue were based on labour relations. The accumulation regime in these countries is based on Keynesian politics and increasing welfare is connected to provivision of full employment.
In this context, the expansion of economic and social rights created an environment in which workers can reconcile work and family life. In the later 70s, globalization along with innovations in technology and production process have transformed working and social relations. European Union welfare states have developed mechanism to speed up this transformation and to meet the flexibility requirements of enterprises and workers' security needs. Several practices have been started to provide reconciliation between flexibility and security in EU countries. In this thesis, the reason for adopting the expression of “flexibility and security reconciliation” rather than the flexicurity is that this phrase can be adapted to the flexibility requirements of businesses and workers' security requirements in the globalization process according to the situation of each country, business and employees.)" |
