Where the patient is required by the ophthalmic surgeon to have an additional pair of glasses, the full cost will be met by the member subject to any further assistance the Approved Society may choose to give. Repairs and renewals of already suitable glasses will be paid for by the member at the fixed scale of charges, subject to any further assistance the Approved Society may choose to give. The intervention of the ophthalmic surgeon in these cases is not required — the member applying direct to the dispensing optician. The prices for Crookes' and tinted lenses, bifocals, etc., are given in Appendix B. ADMINISTRATION. A central clearing house has been established to deal with all documents, accounts and enquiries, the whole organisation of treatment centres and clearing house being under the control of a Board of Management known as the National Ophthalmic Treatment Board. The Board is at present composed of two representatives of the British Medical Association, two representatives of the Association of Dispensing Opticians, Ltd., a Medical Secretary, and a General Secretary, both of whom are members, but it will include as soon as practicable, two representatives of Approved Societies generally, and it is hoped later a representative of the Ministry of Health. 5 292/841.4/1/58
