When illness comes... One thought only is in your mind — that you or your loved one should get well again. Sickness can come to you suddenly, unexpectedly. There may come a time when only the fullest use of the resources of modern medical science can bring back health. The medical profession and the hospitals are only too ready to place at your disposal all the help they can give. But it's going to cost money, perhaps a lot of money ... and unless you are one of those whose incomes allow you to participate in the free hospital treatment provided through certain hospital contributory schemes — then you may have to find the money yourself. It may be that you have the money to spare. In that case you don't have to worry. It may be that you haven't, but by doing without other things you need you can scrape it together. Or perhaps you can mortgage your future and borrow it? Perhaps you can't do any of these things? But the money must be found. It isn't always someone else or someone else's family that falls sick. If it happened to you or to your family to-morrow would you have to ask yourself before embarking upon some vital course of treatment "Can I afford it ?"
