To the Organised Workers of the City and County of Leicester: The Executive of the Leicester and County Saturday Hospital Society, having proved the need for an increased contribution to the Royal Infirmary, are submitting for your consideration this new rate of contribution, which will apply only to contributors earning more than £2 a week. The four points on which the appeal is based are conclusive proof of the need. I am specifically interested in point three. The extra cost involved by reducing the hours is to the benefit of these nurses at the Royal Infirmary, and is one we should all be prepared to bear, it is a reform which in my opinion is long overdue. Many of us owe our lives to the care and attention of the Nursing Staff. Let us shew our appreciation of their work by finding the funds to make it possible to give to them those periods of rest and recreation we ourselves demand: who needs recreation more than a nurse? I appeal for the unanimous support of all workers in the City and County of Leicester, and I know this appeal will not be in vain. Thanking you, Yours fraternally, J.W. GREEN, President, Leicester and District Trades Council.
