Description
Summary:1938-03-02 1938 1930s 9 pages - 9 - modernisation, but the spirit of the service must be changed too. Too often the attitude of matrons, assistant matrons, home sisters, etc., can be summed up by "I had to go through it so why shouldn't they" or "what more do they want". This spirit is communicated to the intermediate ranks because they know it is the policy of their seniors and therefore the quickest way to promotion. It is in our judgement the biggest factor in the decline of recruitment to the profession, and is a problem which can only be tackled by efficient organisation amongst the nurses themselves.
