Description
Summary:042-0102-001 WMC/HVT/FC/14. Secretary's. 13th October, 1937. Sir Daniel Stevenson, Bart., LL.D., Scottish Ambulance Unit in Spain, 5 Cleveden Road, GLASGOW, W.2. Dear Sir Daniel, GRANT. I am very sorry to learn from your letter of the 1st instant of the difficulty of the Scottish Ambulance Unit in Spain. I have already explained the very difficult situation in which we find ourselves, but it does seem unfortunate that the position is such that the Ambulance Unit may have to be withdrawn and disbanded. Consequently, I have had certain necessary consultations and, owing to the special circumstances, it has been decided to make a final grant of £500 to enable the work to be carried on. I think I should say, however, that with the falling off of subscriptions and the many calls upon the Fund I cannot hold out any hope that any further assistance can be given. Perhaps it may be helpful to you in raising further funds if we were to say that this amount is forwarded on the understanding that every endeavour will be made to secure further funds in Scotland equivalent to our grant. Yours sincerely, General Secretary. Cheque. 292/946/42/102
