MINUTE OF FINANCE AND GENERAL PURPOSES COMMITTEE, 22ND MAY, 1939. 122. SCOTTISH AMBULANCE UNIT IN SPAIN. It was reported that the Scottish Ambulance Unit in Spain had written asking for further financial assistance. They are in debt to the amount of £2,360 which they hope will be met by the International Solidarity Fund. The General Secretary explained that he had replied pointing out that the Movement had already contributed about £3,000 to the Scottish Ambulance; the International Solidarity Fund at the moment was inundated with requests for help from all directions; it now had a tremendous refugee problem to cope with and the Fund could not bear any further expense for the people in Spain. IT WAS DECIDED to recommend that the Secretary's reply be endorsed, and that no further grants be made to the Scottish Ambulance Unit.
