EUZKO LANGILLE ALKARTASUNA 25, Shrewbury Road, Redhill, Surrey 11th June, I943 Trades Union Congress Assembly, Transport House, Smith Square, S.W.1 Dear Sirs , The Basque Trade Unions, representing Basque workers, many of whom are working in war factories side by side with their British comrades wish to greet you, and to send their best wishes for the success of this meeting of the Trades Union Congress. In exile we continue firmly anti-Fascist and anti-Franco, and we dissociate ourselves from and protest against all pro-Axis statements made by General Franco against the Allied cause, especially those appealing for the cessation of bombing, a war arm which the Nazis themselves inaugurated by the destruction of Gernika [Guernica] in the service of General Franco, and which has now been turned against their war industries with terrible effect. Yours faithfully P. de Ormaetxea President
