Description
Summary:001-0149-001 UGT GENERAL WORKERS' UNION OF SPAIN Delegation in Great Britain ADDRESS : PADDINGTON TRADES COUNCIL, 494 HARROW ROAD. LONDON, W.9 3rd September 1942. The Chairman, Trades Union Congress, BLACKPOOL. Comrade Chairman, The Delegation of the General Workers' Union of Spain in Great Britain representing the General Workers' Union of Spain resident in Mexico, salutes the comrades of the British Trades Unions on the occasion of the opening of their seventy-fourth Congress and enthusiastically applauds their titanic struggles to attain in as short a time as possible the triumph of the allied arms against Fascism. We, the Spanish workers, greet the millions of young trades-unionists who have flocked into the army, and the other millions striving in factories, mines, transport, to speed the production of the necessary war material for the various fronts, and we are convinced that they will derive from the deliberations of your Congress such inspiration as will steel them to deal the final blow which will smash the black beast of Hitlerism, and open the gates to a new humanity in which the monster of aggression will find no place. We are confident that from your discussions at this Congress will emerge the key to Victory. Long live the proletarian Brotherhood ! Yours fraternally, [signature] President [signature] Secretary 292/946/1/149
