Description
Summary:016a-0050-001 Please keep Draft Resolution The General Council of the Trades Union Congress and the National Executive of the Labour Party express their profound admiration of the success won by the heroic defenders of Madrid in the repulsing the renewed attacks of the Fascist forces upon the city. In the name of the British Trade Union and Labour movement they send a message of congratulation to the Spanish Government, hailing the recent success as a further demonstration of the bravery and invincible loyalty of the Spanish people in their determination to defend their liberties and to win the war of national liberation. Further, that immediate steps be taken through the International Solidarity Fund to supplement the supplies of food to Spain by another consignment from this country forthwith. In our view the presence of German & Italian troops is a distinct violation of the League Covenant & therefore we urge the Gov to give their utmost support to [the request of the] Spanish Gov. should they request that the matter [should] be dealt with by the League under article 10. 292/946/16a/51
