HARROW TRADES COUNCIL President: J. DAVIES, 642, Kenton Lane, Harrow Weald. Hon. Gen. Sec.: Alma Sear 184a, Kenton Road, Kenton. 10th October, 1942. Dear Sir and Brother, International Brigade. My Council asks me to thank you for your letter of the 7th instant, and for the extract enclosed. It seems to us, however, that it is clear that no attempt has been made on behalf of these men and that the Government is presupposing the reply of the Vichy Government. We feel most strongly that the least that can be done is to make an attempt to obtain the release of these men. We also cannot help feeling that the Government's attitude on this question contrasts with their attitude on the Dieppe Prisoners. Yours sincerely, Alma Sear, Secretary Mr. H.V. Tewson, The Trade Union Congress, Transport House, Smith Square, London, S.W.1.
