TRANSLATION. UNION GENERAL DE TRABAJADORES DE ESPANA EN EL EXILIO 71, rue du Taur, Toulouse, France. 23rd November, 1951. 3.384/P.T. Confidential. Dear Brother Tewson, Herewith a few lines in acknowledgment of your cable which has just reached me. The telegram referred to which has been circulated from the London Office of the Association of International Brigades has no other aim but to promote a communist propaganda campaign, on the basis of reasons which have no real existence and no connection with the strikes or with the U.G.T. There are two affairs in progress at the moment in Barcelona: an action which is being brought against some elements of the C.N.T. whose policies we have no desire to advertise, and a second prosecution aimed at elements of the Communist Party, which has not either any connection with the activities of the resistance movement in Spain, in the sense in which we, the conscious Spanish workers, understand the term. Had anything of real moment occurred, our U.G.T. would have informed you of it immediately, as we have done on previous occasions. Assuring you of our willing co-operation at all times, Yours fraternally, PASCUAL TOMAS, General Secretary. Cpd. DT/27.11.51.
