Description
Summary:808-0004-001 TRADES UNION CONGRESS GENERAL COUNCIL. inter-departmental correspondence. W. J. BOLTON Department INTERNATIONAL Sir WALTER CITRINE Date June 25, 1936. SUBJECT. BARCELONA OLYMPIAD. It is noticeable in the Press Report of the British Workers' Sports Association that the conference that was to be held on Monday, June 22, at the National Trade Union Club was to receive reports from representatives who attended the International Fair-Play Conference, neld recently in Paris. It will be recollected that suspicion was thrown on this organisation by Schevenels, and that at the request of Sir Robert Mond, Sir Walter Citrine [handwritten line through, sub 'you'] had signed a statement written in German, which was afterwards published by the organisation. In a circular written on May 22 by the I.F.T.U. to National Centres, the Fair Play Committee is mentioned as one of those in the work of which it was decided that the Executive should not participate.
