Description
Summary:013-0034-001 Organisation VF/MN/737. 1st September, 1941. Mr. H. Midgley, J.P., 19 Garfield Chambers, BELFAST. Dear Mr. Midgley, MR. HARRY GRAHAM. Further to your letter of 25th August on the question of the present whereabouts of Mr. Harry Graham, I have, as I stated in my letter to you of 29th August, started the ball rolling, and I am wondering whether you can approach Mrs. Graham with a view to getting a little further information. I note that Mrs. Graham does not know the date when her husband joined the International Brigade, nor does she know whether Mr. Graham was, in fact, killed while serving in Spain. I do not suppose Mrs. Graham will know any details regarding the company, battalion or division in which he was serving or any details regarding his rank. If she had any information regarding the names and nationality of some of his colleagues who were friends of his it might be helpful and it would also assist if we know whether he joined under his own name or some other. Has Mrs. Graham any idea, do you think, as to the district in Spain in which her husband was serving and in what particular battle she has reason to think he was killed. Any information along these lines would simplify matters considerably. Any correspondence which Mrs. Graham may have had with her husband while he was in Spain may be a useful source of information if any can be supplied. Yours sincerely, Assistant Secretary. 292/946/13/34
