Secretary's. HVT/FC/EK/881. 17th March, 1939. Senor Marcelino Gonzalez, Mid-Atlantic Shipping Company Limited, Creechurch House, Bevis Marks, London, E.C.3. Dear Sir, POSITION OF SPANISH SEAMEN. I am in receipt of your letter of the 16th instant giving the names of the Captain and Officer of the s.s. "Sabina". You do not give the port involved, but I presume that these are the two men you said were in London. I would suggest that they make contact with the Secretary of the National Union of Seamen and let me have particulars. The position at the moment is that the Secretaries of the National Union of Seamen at the ports where the Spanish boats are docked have been asked to make enquiries as to the position and notify their General Secretary. Any money which we may have available for their assistance will be administered through the machinery of the National Union of Seamen. Yours faithfully, Assistant Secretary.
