International. WMC/EAB/AT/957. 10th June, 1939. M. Pascual Tomas, Diputado, Rue du Taur 69, Toulouse, France. Dear Comrade Tomas, I received your letter of the 7th instant and am very sorry indeed to learn of the difficult situation in which your wife and daughters find themselves. I can quite appreciate that this continued state of affairs must be a terrible strain to you, particularly as their position is such that they must be in constant hiding from the police. I will certainly do everything in my power, with a view to alleviating their difficulties. I already took this matter up with the Foreign Office a short while ago, and will get in touch with them again, stressing the urgency of the case. I know you will understand how difficult it is to deal with this matter officially, but every avenue will be explored in the hope that something can be done for your wife and daughters. As soon as I have any information I will write to you again. Yours sincerely, General Secretary.
