Description
Summary:028-0140-001 WMC/FEM/MT/302 Secretary's. 16th December, 1936. Mr. W. Schevenels, International Federation of Trade Unions, 9, Avenue D'Orsay, Paris, VIIe, France. Dear Mr. Schevenels, International Solidarity Fund. After discussion with the other officials of the National Council of Labour, we felt it would be a good thing to hand a cheque for £1,000 (one thousand pounds) to the Spanish Relief Committee under the auspices of the Standing Joint Committee of Industrial Women's Organisations, from the International Solidarity Fund. We have arranged that the money shall be spent on ready-made woollen goods purchased wholesale at the C.W.S. and, if possible, despatched to arrive in Spain by Christmas. We have also asked that publicity be given to the fact that this money has been given by the International Solidarity Fund. I hope you will agree with the action we have taken but we thought it would be a psychologically good thing to get the woollen garments over there by Christmas, so it had to be done in rather a hurry. Yours sincerely, General Secretary. 292/946/28/140
