Summary:Records of this digital collection were assembled to document the work of the UN Special Committee on the Problem of Hungary established on January 10, 1957 by the United Nations General Assembly for the purpose of investigating the 1956 Hungarian revolution. Principal contributor(s): Leslie Munro Regarding the Hungarian Permanent Representative's concern that Hungary is being used as an instrument of the Cold War, Sir Munro's letter expresses assurance that it contains only deep and well-meant intention, and that it is a gesture of co-operation to help dissipate "the cloud of angry suspicion" that hovers over relations between Hungary and other members of the United Nations.
