Summary: | Verzio FF Submission
Today, with economic globalization thriving, the old custom of woman matchmakers dominating marriage arrangements still prevails in rural areas on the border between Shandong, Hebei and Henan provinces in China. Free dating is not accepted here and young people often find themselves in conflict with the custom. Even if the marriage is settled, dating only occurs at fixed times of the year, for example in the mid-autumn festival when the boy is allowed to go to the girl's house, or the lunar new year. The film follows and interviews Yang Xiuting, a 60-year-old woman who is a matchmaker and who is on a journey to arrange a marriage. |
